For years, I believed leadership meant carrying more.
More responsibility.
More pressure.
More expectations.
From the outside, it looked like success.
Behind the scenes, I was carrying things that were never mine to carry.
Taking the Cape Off was born from a simple question:
What if leadership wasn't about carrying everything?
What if it was about knowing what belongs to you and having the courage to put the rest down?
That's the conversation this book begins.
Before I wrote about carrying too much, I lived it. I built the #1 Nissan dealer in Maryland and one of the top 150 dealerships in the country. I've testified before Congress on automotive and consumer credit issues, and I was inducted into The HistoryMakers, with my story archived in the Library of Congress. None of that protected me from carrying weight that wasn't mine. It just made the lesson harder to see.

A single conversation can change how your team leads under pressure.
